Bob's BIO
With a background in theater and stand-up comedy, Bob, originally from Spokane Washington, brings a wealth of insight and perspective in the roles that he plays. Just recently starring in a short film titled “Victory Point", he had the opportunity to play the role of a hitman with a quirky fascination for board games.
Bob has been studying with Joseph Pearlman (Pearlman Acting Academy), as well as others, concentrating on scene study, audition technique and improv. He has studied Voiceover Technique with Dolores Diehl, and for comedy, he has studied with Barb & Steve North in stand-up technique, improv and commercial technique.
Bob also just starred in “The Janitor”, a short suspense film, and has been playing starring or leading roles in over a dozen short films, including one that he directed himself. In television he was a guest star on the “Home and Family Show”, playing himself as a Mad Scientist, and has starred in cable TV productions as well as shooting 6 national commercials. In theatre, most of his work was in Seattle productions, playing primarily leading roles.
In live performance, Bob has performed hundreds of shows for ‘Mad Science” in the last 18 years, at a variety of venues in the greater Los Angeles area, combining science and stand-up comedy. Being a professional ventriloquist since high school, he has also performed many concerts over the years that are a presentation of stand-up comedy, music and ventriloquism, which he calls "Bob Hoover In Concert".
Bob graduated from Eastern Washington University with a music degree, and is advanced in singing, playing the piano, trombone, bass guitar and harmonica. He also writes, arranges and orchestrates music; and is very skilled in horseback riding, rifle & handguns, plays many sports, and is a musical arm virtuoso.
“I would love to find myself either on a fun TV sit-com in the likes of Frasier, or something more action-packed like 24.” In film, Bob says, “I am very attracted to action-drama with comedy relief mixed in, and also quirky comedies like Best In Show.”
Bob’s motto is “I’m Pumped”, and says, “I’m always ready for those words - Action, or It’s Time For Lunch!"
